i love the sookie stackhouse and kate daniels series. i’m looking for recommendations on books similar to these. for the record, i’ve tried charlaine’s harper connelly books and didn’t like them, and i’m going to try ilona’s edge book asap!
so i think what i like best about these two series are the great paranormal aspects and the awesome romance…

- not that into vampires.. i mean, they’re okay, but i don’t have a certain liking for them or anything, and in any case, too much vampire stuff these days..

- romance is a biggie for me.. i know the kate daniels series doesn’t have much in the beginning, but it builds up in the later books, and anyway, what little is there is still hot lol with that said, nothing too mushy
- romance doesn’t necessarily equal pages of sex lol i appreciate a good story, ya know?

Is my dream school columbia university in my future?
Attention Columbia Students I have only one year left.?
I will be applying to Columbia College at the end of 2010 under early decision and I want this question to be answered. I have a 3.5 – 3.7 gpa, as of my jr year I am taking classes like Ap us, english honors, trigonometry, physics, italian 3, and im in a teaching the christian message program at my school for people who are going to be teaching religious instructions to little kids. I went to the summer program for high school students at columbia last summer and also NYLF program for medicine. i want to be a oncologist and a paleontologist which is very unique for not many people want to be a paleontologist. My last transcript I was 71/302 kids making me in the top quarter. i will be taken the act in april and the sat in march and may. But i don’t expect to score that wheel for the ivy league school. im the head usher in the usher society, i will be acting as a researcher in a hospital over the summer, I’m an Eagle scout which demonstrates my leadership skills,i’m also involved in the staten island geological society, special olympics volunteer club, military support club (which makes me closer to my college adviser for he runs it), military history club, political debate club. My grades are not that impressive but I think its my essay, character, interview and extra activities like being in nhs and nshss that will get me in. If they don’t except me then its just that stereotypical ivy league spirit that will over come them that grades are everything. What does my friend have against me?
Okay, so last year I became good friends with this girl and we became really close. But it’s like the closer we get the more she competes with me? My friend’s a nice girl, but it’s like whenever I achieve something or look nice she’s like "whatever..". I mean, I used to be super nice to her, but when she ignored me n’ stuff I stopped being nice (like, why should I be nice when she’s not?)

And she ALWAYS has to be friends with the people I’m friends with. Like if I’m talking to a friend she’d come and interrupt and be like "what, what, tell me" and wants to know everything we’ve talked about. It’s almost like she wants to steal my friends or something. AND she also adds ALL of my friends on Facebook and the hilarious thing is that she doesn’t even know them. definetly jealous, insecure and competitive, and I feel this happens a lot amongst best friends, but you’ve only known her a year or so, so dnt be suprised. But good people can be jealous to, and when these people are your friends or family you have to just control your emotions and be patient. You are the mature one, you have acknowleged her faults, so knowing that info when this happens just brush it aside and ignore it. If she doesn’t like what you’re wearing or when you achieve something, and she has something to say, just be like ‘ok then’, cuz you already know she’s just trying to put you down, so keep ya head up and just have a laid back personality, it’ll probably irritate her, since shes trying to hurt you!

However! sometimes if the situation just can’t be tolerated just go your seperate ways, before that make it clear that you don’t like what shes doing etc. and if she apologises and changes thats good! but if she continues the behaviour ditch her, friends come and go, close 1z remain.

How do you stop a potential serial killer, rapist and/or child molester?
I know a 42 year old man who has choked his little borther, masterbated in front of his little brother, attacked his little brother more than once, tried to come onto his little sister when she was a child, chased me in a motor vehicle, urinated in front of his siblings on the floor, licked up beer off the floor, broken and thrown things several times in front of children and says he wants to hurt people and do bad things. The problem is his family never calls the cops on his when he does this type of behavior. I think he has the potential to hurt people but how can I help prevent it? I’ve called the cops when I’ve witnessed this behavior, and he’s been put in a psych ward a few times but keeps getting let out cuz he is a good manipulator.

This guy sounds insane, distance yourself from the situation and if the affected kids are in your school, mention the problem to your school counselor. This often results in Child Protective Services becoming involved which in this case would be appropriate.

The movie didn’t have a specific point. It was basically a snapshot of someone’s life. Someone who has messed up and is trying to get their life back together. It’s a story and it’s no more or less pointless than big budget movies – although Sherrybaby is much more relevant.

It’s a shame you didn’t like it, but I give you credit for giving it a try. The truly great thing about the movie was Maggie Gyllenhaal’s performance. She is a terrific young actress with a very bright future.

Before I got married to my husband I was with this guy who I thought was so cute and I did anything to make him like me. Well we got together and he ended up having to move back to Green ville which is far away from my family but I liked him so much that I moved with him.
